Breath Testing By Appointment
If you are attending one of our test centres in suburban Victoria (Box Hill and Brighton), you will need to follow a strict diet a full day before each test.
Then, when you arrive for each test, you will be provided a seat in a comfortable waiting room and you will be given an inflatable breath sample bag to create your first baseline breath sample.
You will then be given a sugar drink which you will need to finish within 5 minutes. Staff will then provide you with the breath sample bag at regularlary timed intervals for the next 2 hours at minimum, to create further readings.
The duration of tests for most patients is approx. 2 hours and 20 minutes, but if patients have a slow metabolic rate, the maximum time their test will run for is 3 hours. If you are having a Glucose Test for SIBO, this will run for 90 minutes, with breath samples taken every 15 minutes.
The cost of each test - Lactulose, Fructose, Lactose, Sorbitol and Glucose - is $85 per test, or $65 per test if you present a valid Pensioner/HealthCare/Full Time University Student Concession Card. This amount can be paid at the time you attend each test, or you can pay for all tests at the time of your first test. We accept payment by VISA, MasterCard, BankCard, EFTPOS & American Express account or cash - no cheques accepted.
